robot named Sora-Q measures 8 cm and weighs only 250 g, made of a special type of aluminum and plastic that can withstand the extreme temperature differences on the moon.
Toy manufacturer Tomy, Japan Aerospace Research and Development Agency and partners have worked 6 years to develop this robot.
The robot can transform from balls to other shapes, with two wheels that can move on fine sand. At the same time, the robot is also equipped with two cameras to capture images and transmit images back to Earth.
The Japanese Aerospace Research and Development Agency plans to use the robot on the SLIM lunar module in 2023.
