The Ground Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on April 29: “The forces of the shock unit under the command of the Commander of the Ground Forces General Oleksandr Syrsky liberated the village of Ruska Lozova in Ukraine. Kharkiv region. Now the village is completely under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The village of Ruska Lozova is considered an important strategic settlement on the Kharkiv-Belgorod highway.
“During the conflict, the enemy targeted Kharkiv’s civilian infrastructure and residential areas from this suburb,” the statement said.
A day earlier, on April 28, the Ukrainian army also recaptured the village of Kutuzivka in Kharkiv, preventing a Russian attack from many directions.
In a related development, Ukraine said on April 29 that the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine had resulted in heavy casualties on both sides.
However, Ukraine claims that Russian troops have suffered heavier casualties than Kievans, according to Israel National News.
An aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy this morning admitted Ukraine had suffered “heavy casualties” during the war, but claimed Russia’s losses were “more terrible”.
“We have serious losses, but the Russians’ losses are much greater… They have terrible losses,” said presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych.
Mr. Arestovych also acknowledged that over the past week Russia managed to capture more territory and some Ukrainian cities, but stressed that this has also taken a heavy toll on the Russian military.
Zelenskyy’s office also said that Russia continues to bombard the front lines in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine with artillery and bombs.
The Ukrainian government also announced it would evacuate hundreds of civilians living at the huge steel plant in the besieged city of Mariupol in the south-east of the country.
